Astilbe chinensis Vision in White
Chinese astilbe Vision in White
This elegant perennial forms clumps of finely divided, dark green foliage and produces spikes of white flowers in the form of panicles, appearing in late spring and early summer. The flowers, dense and light, add a touch of brightness to the garden and attract pollinators such as bees and butterflies. Water regularly to keep the soil consistently moist, but be careful not to let water stagnate. During dry periods, ensure the plant receives enough water to support its growth. Apply a balanced fertilizer in the spring, before new growth begins, to encourage abundant flowering and healthy growth. Astilbe does not require excessive fertilization, but a light application of compost or organic fertilizer can be beneficial for the plant. After flowering, you can cut back the faded stems to encourage new growth and maintain a neat shape. This will also help prolong the plant’s tidy appearance. In winter, it is best to leave the dead stems in place to protect the roots from the cold. Trim them back in early spring before new growth starts.
