Pyrus communis Beauté Flamande
Flemish Beauty Pear Tree
A pear tree grown mainly for its delicious fruit and elegant shape. The pears are medium-sized, conical in shape, with pale yellow skin and a slight reddish tinge on the side exposed to the sun. The flesh is melting, juicy and slightly sweet, with a delicate taste that makes it a perfect fruit for fresh consumption, in compote, or for cooking. This pear tree is self-sterile, so it is recommended to plant it with another variety of pear tree to ensure cross-pollination and an abundant harvest. It begins to produce fruit about 4 to 6 years after planting. Like all pear trees, it requires regular watering, especially during dry periods, but care must be taken not to saturate the soil with water to avoid root rot. Pruning is done in late winter or early spring, before the vegetation restarts. It is advisable to remove dead or weak branches and to aerate the center of the tree to promote good air circulation and prevent disease.
