JUNIPERUS SQUAMATA ‘BLUE STAR’
Blue Star Flaky Juniper
A compact, rounded variety of dwarf juniper, particularly prized for its unique silvery-blue foliage that retains its colour throughout the year. This juniper has a dense, spherical habit and spreads horizontally, making it an excellent choice for rockeries, borders or as an accent plant in small gardens. Drought-tolerant once established, it is undemanding and requires little maintenance. Moderate watering is recommended during the planting and establishment phase, after which it can be done with little water. It can also thrive in poor soils. It can withstand cold winters, but mulching around the base is recommended to protect its roots from deep frosts in the first few years. Pruning is generally unnecessary, but a light pruning can be done in late winter or early spring to maintain a rounded, well-structured shape. Remove dead or damaged branches to maintain healthy, compact growth.
