Liriodendron Tulipifera
Tulip Tree
A majestic and spectacular tree, renowned for its slender silhouette and remarkable foliage. Its large leaves offer a beautiful light green colour in spring and summer, and take on golden yellow hues in autumn. In summer, the tree produces tulip-shaped flowers, greenish yellow in colour with touches of orange, which add an additional decorative touch. It is ideal for large gardens or as an avenue tree thanks to its impressive height. Water regularly during the first years, especially during dry periods, to encourage deep rooting. An organic or balanced fertiliser applied in spring will support its growth. This tree is hardy and tolerates cold winters well. It requires little care in winter, but mulching around the base is recommended to protect the roots from frost, especially during the first years. Pruning is not generally necessary, but you can remove dead or damaged branches to maintain a neat shape. Any pruning is best done in early spring, before growth resumes.
