Malus domestica Empire
Empire Apple Tree
A variety of apple tree highly prized for its sweet, crunchy and slightly tart fruit. Its medium-sized apples are bright red in colour with firm, juicy flesh, ideal for fresh consumption, as well as for making pies, compotes and juices. This cultivar is also prized for its disease resistance and ability to produce a regular harvest each year. It is self-sterile, which means that it is recommended to choose another variety of apple tree that flowers at the same time. It begins to produce fruit about 4 to 6 years after planting. Water regularly, especially during dry periods, but avoid excess water which can cause root rot. Pruning is done in late winter or early spring, before vegetation resumes. Remove dead or weak branches to improve air circulation and encourage healthy new growth.
