Elephant Heart Plum

A remarkable variety distinguished by its large, heart-shaped plums, dark red to purple in colour, and a soft, sweet, juicy flesh. These plums, of an impressive size, are perfect for fresh consumption, as well as for the preparation of jams, pies and other desserts. Self-fertile, this variety does not need another variety to produce fruit, although cross-pollination can improve the harvest. The plum tree begins to produce fruit about 3 to 4 years after planting. For optimal maintenance, water regularly, especially in dry periods, but avoid excess water. Pruning is done in late winter or early spring, before the vegetation restarts. Remove dead or weak branches to encourage healthy new growth and better air circulation.
