Pyrus communis Cold Snap
Cold Snap Pear Tree
A particularly cold-resistant variety of pear tree, ideal for areas with harsh winters. The pears of this variety are medium-sized, with a smooth skin and a greenish-yellow color, sometimes with a slight rust on one side. The flesh is firm, crunchy and slightly acidic, offering a pleasant and refreshing taste. This variety is used both for fresh consumption and for preserves. Self-sterile, it is therefore necessary to plant another variety of pear tree nearby to ensure cross-pollination. This variety begins to produce fruit about 4 to 6 years after planting. Watering should be moderate, especially during dry periods. It is important to maintain the tree well by pruning dead or weak branches in late winter or early spring, before vegetation resumes, to promote better air circulation and optimal fruit production.
