Pyrus communis Harrow Crisp
Harrow Crisp Pear Tree
A variety of pear tree appreciated for its crisp, juicy and sweet fruit. Pears of this variety are medium-sized, conical in shape, with a smooth, pale yellow skin, often tinged with red. The flesh is firm, crisp, and has a sweet flavour with a slight acidity, making it an excellent variety for fresh consumption, but also for salads or desserts. This variety is self-sterile, so it is necessary to plant another variety of pear tree that flowers at the same time to ensure cross-pollination. ‘Harrow Crisp’ begins to produce fruit about 3 to 4 years after planting. Watering should be regular, especially during the growing season, but it is important not to let water stagnate. Pruning is done in late winter or early spring, before the vegetation restarts, to maintain good shape and encourage fruit production.
