Ilex meserveae ‘Blue Princess/Prince’
Blue Princess/Prince Holly
Renowned for its glossy evergreen foliage and bright red berries, which appear in autumn and persist throughout winter. This cultivar is an excellent choice for adding colour and contrast to the garden, particularly during the colder months. With its dense, compact habit, ‘Blue Princess’ can be used as a hedge, as a single plant or even in a container. Water regularly, especially during dry spells, to ensure healthy growth and optimum berry production. A balanced fertiliser in spring will encourage abundant fruiting. Hardy and cold-hardy, it can withstand harsh winter temperatures. To protect its roots from severe frost, apply a layer of mulch around the base of the plant. Prune in early spring, before the vegetation restarts. Remove dead or damaged branches to maintain a neat shape and encourage healthy growth.
