Pyrus communis Harrow Gold
Harrow Gold Pear Tree
A variety of pear tree known for its golden, sweet and juicy fruits. The pears are medium-sized, conical in shape, with a golden yellow skin that turns slightly red when fully ripe. The flesh is firm and crisp, with a mild and sweet flavor, ideal for fresh consumption, but also for cooking, jam or pies. This variety is self-sterile, so it is necessary to plant another variety of pear tree that flowers at the same time to ensure cross-pollination. ‘Harrow Gold’ usually begins to produce fruit about 3 to 4 years after planting. Watering should be regular, especially during the flowering and fruit growth period, but avoid excess water which can harm the roots. Pruning is done in late winter or early spring, before the vegetation resumes, to maintain a compact shape and promote a good harvest.
