Prunus avium Ulster
Ulster Cherry
A sweet cherry variety, prized for its large, firm, juicy, dark red to black cherries with a sweet and slightly tart taste. These cherries are perfect for fresh consumption, desserts, and for jams and pies. This cultivar is disease resistant and produces fruit regularly. Self-sterile, it is recommended to plant another cherry variety that flowers at the same time to ensure cross-pollination. It begins to produce fruit about 4 to 6 years after planting. Water regularly, especially during dry periods, while avoiding overwatering. Pruning is done in late winter or early spring, before vegetation resumes. Remove dead or weak branches to encourage healthy growth and improve air circulation.
