Prunus avium Cavalier

Cavalier Cherry

A sweet cherry variety, known for its medium-sized, red to black fruits with a sweet and juicy taste. The cherries are firm and delicious, ideal for fresh consumption, as well as for pies and jams. This cultivar is particularly appreciated for its disease resistance and its ability to produce a regular harvest. Self-sterile, it is recommended to plant another cherry variety that flowers at the same time to ensure cross-pollination. For example, varieties like Stella, Van, or Bing generally bloom at the same time and pollinate each other well. It begins to produce fruit about 4 to 6 years after planting. Water regularly, especially during dry periods, while avoiding overwatering. Pruning is done in late winter or early spring, before the vegetation restarts. Remove dead or weak branches to promote healthy growth and improve air circulation.
